Manor Estate, West Sussex

A Landmark Country Residence in West Sussex

Set within the rolling countryside of West Sussex, the new build West Sussex Manor Estate represents a perfect balance of classical proportion and modern living. Acting as residential architects and project managers, Morph Design Studio worked closely with the client to refine the design, prepare technical drawings, and coordinate construction. Inspired by Georgian architecture and the surrounding landscape, the design creates a timeless country home that feels both elegant and functional. The result is a cohesive estate that celebrates craftsmanship, context, and enduring architectural form.

Design Influenced by Georgian Architecture

Drawing inspiration from the grace and order of Georgian design, our architects developed a plan that combines symmetry, scale, and natural flow. A sweeping driveway leads down from the gated entrance to the main Manor House, flanked by a traditional gatehouse and a series of complementary outbuildings. Acting as the planning approval architect, we worked with local authorities to ensure that each structure respected West Sussex’s rural character and conservation principles. The result is a composition that feels timeless, firmly rooted in tradition yet designed for modern family life.

Connection to Landscape and Setting

The estate was designed to work intuitively with its landscape. The site’s natural change in levels provided opportunities for framed views across the woodlands and open countryside beyond. The architectural design emphasises balance and perspective, symmetrical rendered facades, weighted timber sash windows, and generous terraces capture light and landscape in equal measure. As experienced residential architects, we ensured that each element of the home responds to its setting, creating a dialogue between architecture and nature that defines the property’s unique sense of place.

Elegant Interiors and Crafted Detailing

Inside the Manor House, the sense of scale continues through high ceilings, bespoke joinery, and carefully detailed finishes. The interiors combine traditional character with modern comfort, designed for family living without losing the refinement of a period home. Acting as extension architects and interior coordinators, we developed spaces that integrate seamlessly, from the main reception rooms to the brick-built side wing housing a gym, boot room, and garage. Each element reflects precision in technical drawing and construction, maintaining consistency across every detail.

Landscaped Grounds and Garden Design

Encircling the Manor House is a series of formal gardens and landscaped features designed as an architectural extension of the property. The gardens follow a classical layout with a central water fountain, symmetrical planting beds, and an avenue of trees leading to a folly. Beyond the manicured lawns lie hedgerows, a pool terrace, and framed countryside views. Working alongside landscape designers, our architects ensured the gardens reflect both the geometry of the house and the informality of the surrounding West Sussex scenery, reinforcing the estate’s timeless elegance.

Traditional Craftsmanship, Modern Construction

Throughout the Design and Build process, Morph Design Studio collaborated closely with contractors and consultants to bring the vision to life. Our role in building project management ensured that every decision, from materials to construction techniques, upheld both quality and intent. Traditional masonry and timber craftsmanship combine with modern methods to create a property that is efficient, durable, and beautifully finished. The West Sussex Manor Estate stands as a testament to Morph Design Studio’s philosophy: uniting classical inspiration with contemporary living through thoughtful, precise architectural design.
