Situated on a private estate in Cobham, Luffield House is a new-build property that exemplifies Morph Design Studio’s approach to combining classical architecture with modern family living. Acting as residential architects and project managers, we were commissioned to undertake a full feasibility study, concept design, and construction documentation for this impressive home. Surrounded by mature trees, the property sits comfortably within its prestigious neighbourhood, delivering an enduring sense of place and proportion.
Our architects collaborated closely with the developer from the earliest design stages through to on-site delivery. We produced detailed technical drawings, coordinated design packages, and managed communication across consultants to ensure accuracy and buildability. Acting as the planning approval architect, we prepared and refined all documentation to meet local authority requirements and client expectations. As construction progressed, our team remained actively involved, translating concept into reality through consistent oversight and precise building project management.
Inspired by Queen Anne-style architecture, Luffield House draws on traditional symmetry and detailing while incorporating the comforts of modern life. The three-storey layout is anchored by a grand entrance hall featuring a sweeping staircase that forms the heart of the design. Acting as experienced residential architects, we crafted interior proportions that balance scale and intimacy, arched openings define transitions between spaces, while generous windows draw in natural light. Each element combines timeless aesthetics with practical function, creating a home that feels elegant, open, and inviting.
Externally, the architecture reflects a commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship. Traditional Flemish bond brickwork, stone dressings, and timber sash windows give Luffield House its classical charm, while arched dormers and deep reveals add texture and depth. Our architectural design process emphasised proportion and alignment, ensuring visual coherence across all façades. Acting as listed building architects on other heritage projects, our team brought similar sensitivity here, using traditional materials and methods to achieve modern performance. The outcome is a home that feels rooted in Cobham’s architectural heritage yet built for the future.
At the rear, large arched doors on the ground floor open out onto a landscaped garden and swimming pool terrace. Acting as extension architects and outdoor coordinators, we ensured that internal and external spaces flow seamlessly. The landscape design incorporates stone paving, planted borders, and sculpted lawns that mirror the geometry of the house. This connection between architecture and setting reinforces Morph Design Studio’s philosophy that good design continues beyond the building envelope, creating harmony between structure, material, and environment.
Luffield House, Cobham stands as a testament to Morph Design Studio’s dedication to precision, proportion, and enduring design quality. Through careful architectural design and attentive building project management, the property successfully merges classical elegance with the practicalities of contemporary family living. It enhances its surroundings while embodying the character of Surrey’s most desirable estates. This project reflects our expertise as residential architects in delivering homes that are distinctive, timeless, and designed to enrich everyday life.
